The Purpose
Austbrokers Awards' purpose is to acknowledge excellence in the insurance industry by recognising the brokers and industry leaders from the Austbrokers network across various categories and underwriting agencies.
In addition to the previously celebrated Frank Earl Award, the Austbrokers Young Professional Award, and the Austbrokers Life Adviser Award, in 2023, Austbrokers is introducing the Underwriter of the Year Award, Claims Manager of the Year Award, and Above & Beyond Award.
Overview
Frank Earl Award
Awarded annually to recognise excellence in the Insurance Broking profession within Austbrokers Partners. In memory of Frank Earl who was fundamental in the history of Austbrokers and served on the Austbrokers board from April 2005 until July 2010.
Eligibility
Open to all Austbrokers high performing Principals, Managing Directors, Senior Managers, Account Managers or Claims Managers.
Entrant Requirements
- Entrants must be available to travel to Adelaide in March 2023. Airfares and accommodation costs will be covered by Austbrokers.
- Qualified Practicing Insurance Broker (QPIB)
- Entrants must be over 35 years of age as at 31 December in the year they are entering.
- Judging will be carried out by members of the AMS board, including the CEO of AUB Group.
Judging
The AMS board will also assess the success of each nominated insurance broker, including how much their portfolio has grown in recent years and what kinds of innovative solutions they are bringing to the industry.
Qualities
Frank Earl personified HONESTY, INTEGRITY and TRANSPARENCY in his exemplary career. He considered these to be core characteristics fundamental not only to individual success but also to the industry as a whole.

2. Business Retention & Growth over the previous 2 years (25% score)
Provide an overview of your portfolio including retention rates, increase in portfolio size and growth in income.

Current and planned professional development plans, your contribution to the professional

4. Innovation (10% score)
Provide an overview in customer coverage or claims management, where innovation has played an important part of the process.

Engagement within the insurance industry, and the wider Austbrokers network outside of your own office.

Austbrokers Young Professional Award
In partnership with Clyde & Co, the award represents the pinnacle of achievement for the nation's young broker community.
Prize value

Open to all Austbrokers high performing brokers or claims consultants.
In partnership with Clyde & Co, the award represents the pinnacle of achievement for the nation’s young broker community.
Prize include
- $10,000 to be used towards Professional Development within the insurance industry
Entrant Requirements
- Entrants must be available to travel to Adelaide in March 2023. Airfares and accommodation costs will be covered by Clyde & Co.
- Qualified Practicing Insurance Broker (QPIB)
- Entrants must be under 35 years of age as at 31 December in the year they are entering.
- Judging will be carried out by members of the AMS board, and will include a member from Clyde & Co.
Judging
The AMS board will also assess the success of each nominated YP, including how much they have impacted their individual businesses by speaking with the Principal of the Austbrokers Businesses they are associated with.

In Partnership with Zurich Life, awarded annually to recognise excellence in the Financial Advice profession within the Life Industry and Austbrokers Partners.

Open to all Austbrokers high performing Financial advisers and Risk Specialists.
Prize includes
Access to a number of International Educational Opportunities.
Entrant Requirements
- Entrants must be available to travel to Adelaide in March 2023. Airfares and accommodation costs will be covered by Austbrokers.
- Entrants must be over 35 years of age as at 31 December in the year they are entering.
- The adviser must have passed the FASEA exam.
- Judging will be carried out by members of the AMS board, and will include a representative of Zurich Life.
Judging
The AMS board and Zurich will also assess the success of each nominated Austbrokers Life Adviser, including advice production, claims management and contributions to industry.

The AMS board will also assess the success of each nominated Underwriter including including how much their market share has grown in recent years, what kinds of innovative solutions they are bringing to the industry and overall support of and contribution to the insurance intermediary channel.
